The "Old Fashioned" Sims

I was looking on youtube today and I came across the trailer for Janes F-15 Strike Eagle and remembered how much I miss all the games back then which placed accuracy over that horrible concept of "gameplay."  Why did this happen?  Why did the evil corporations s*** all over the loyal sim fans at the turn of the century?

Since EA ditched Janes way back then, how cool would it be to have a new CFS developed by Microsoft and Janes Intelligence Group?  I would love to see the open enviroment of CFS2 mixed with the technical overload of F-15/ FA/18.

Also, I wonder if theres anywhere out there that will allow you to download any one of the Janes Combat Sims in its entirety?

Thanks for the memory.

I loved Jane's F-15 and I still have it installed along with all sorts of addons.

It was the first Windows game I ever bought after I finally gave up my Commodore 64 and bought a machine with Windows 95.

There may be something to be said about gameplay over realism, though.  Every time I play it I have to pull out several pages of keyboard commands.

You can still find addons for it but they are becoming fewer and farther between.

Simple. They sell more stock that way and generally the games can be on the shelf that much earlier because the programming isn't as comlex.
A simple case of quality over quantity.
