Possibly Big problems with Lots of applications

Postby a1 » Fri Jul 25, 2008 9:35 pm

Ok I am stumped.

I can't use some applications.

First one:

Paint.NET.

Won't start. Gives me an error message.

Application has generated and exception that could not be handled.

Process ID=0xc7c (3196) Thread ID= 0xc80 (3200)

Click OK to terminate the application
Click CANCEL to debug the application

I have only installed the windows updates and nothing else. I can't uninstall it either it just gives me the same message.

Second one:

nHancer

Won't start but will uninstall.

Same error message but different Process ID and thread ID.

This only adds to my problems with .NET can't uninstall or install. i think this has to do with it.

Please help. :(

Looks like this is only afffecting .NET framework programs. I figured it out in the even logs.

Here is the actual logged entry.

Event ID: 1023
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (000006427F886338) (80131506)

i can't uninstall .NET 2 because it gives me many other errors and I can't update or install a different version. I am stuck. :(

If I safely recovered the PC to the day of which it didn't have problems would it uninstall all the programs I have now? I know settings will be turned back but how about he programs and saved data?

Found this possible fix but I am a bit nervous at doing the fix.

What does it mean by CD-ROM and DVD drives...doesn't it mean the HDD?

That 'fix' has nothing to do with your problem. Try going to windows update and installing any appearing .nets from there.

Apparently the problem is all fixed after 3hrs of research.

I used Windows Install Cleanup to get rid of the program in the install database you might call and then I reinstalled .NET 2.0 from the Add Remove programs in the control panel by clicking Change/Remove. It installed it for me again in full and now everything is working.

Also I might like to add...FSWC is AWESOME. :o [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
