Keep Losing Internet Connection

I keep losing it. Simple enough. All lights on the modem stay stable Green during the connection lost. The connection lost lasts from 5 to 30 seconds at random times. There is no pattern to the problem. It is usually back right after the 30seconds or so. I have filters on all phones and have all the drivers for the ethernet port in my computer. The modem itself has no driver support for 64 bit and it seems to work fine on some days. i have replaced the ethernet cable but still the problem persists.

It is really annoying when playing online games as I get kicked off servers.

Any ideas?

Verizon DSL, No router, with and without firewall, antivirus disabled.

this happens to me on call of duty 4 a lot.

Someone told me that there is a defense mechanism built in that detects multiple hits on one server or web site. and if it detects X number of hits within X number of seconds it will reset your connection forcing a restart.

However, refreshing a games list can be the culprit, sometimes when i refresh the list of servers i will get tons of servers just fine and i will try to join one but it is now full despite showing open player spots... if i refresh again, i lose connection.

i dont know if this is true or not, but if you open a web page and repeatedly refresh it or repeatedly click the same link it will reset your connection.

as far as i know there is not a work around - i have been searching for a long time for one to no avail!

The refresh things seems to be the most reasonable one as I refresh the SimV main forum page like 10 times a min. ;D ;D

I'll look around more to see if that is the case. Sometimes it would happen even without any input.

Could be a problem with the line. Contact your isp and see if they can do a line check for you ;)

They are never helpful. They keep repeating the same thing over and over again. Like turn off this turn off that and then I ask why they just said that again.

There line check says my line is fine though.

I hate ISP's...

They don't know the first thing about what they should be supporting, once Orange told me my internet was not working because of Internet Explorer!!

When i told them it is the same on Firefox, they then said they could help me no further and hung up!

It happens. It could be noise in the line, congestion, switchboard problem, electrical interferance, etc. Pick your poison. How old are the lines inside your house? How far away is the nearest switchboard?
My DSL was down from all the flooding for a few days due to all the flooding in the area. It was off and on Monday and finally came back Tuesday. The modem's lights were lit throughout the the whole time DSL was down.

Line is about 2 years old and from what I can tell on line tests it is about 30 somewhat miles away from my house.

This problem is driving me crazy. It happens on a daily basis and ISP can't do a thing because they are 5000miles away with no knowledge or what is what. I need a cure to this problem now.

I just lose it from 30sec to 1min. When normal web surfing or right in the middle of a game.

Have you tried using Windows Diagnostics to maybe clear out the problem a bit more? I had (have) a similar problem and it has to do with a DNS error something like that and there are simple solutions...
