Spent 2 hours downloading it...about an hour installing it.  Don't really notice much difference other then maybe a tiny bit more stable and speed.  Main point of this update was for driver issues.  My CD/DVD burner would read on this system but never write...only detected it as a drive not a burner.  Now it detects it as a burner and it finally works saving me $30-$50 on a new one ;D

Now if they would ever learn to pry "Internet Explorer" out of every operating systems arse it would make the world a much better place :P

once SP1 is released, and i have purchased my new components, I'm getting vista, as long as it sorts out the compatibility issues

Has it sorted compatibility issues? Er um.....what compatibility issues? I have yet to have a piece of hardware or software that I can't force to run in vista, so in that respect no it didn't fix anything. It has however fixed the way it manipulates your system and graphics RAM, some stability tweaks are there, but for the most part its just a lot of MS trying to thwart hackers. Much like SP1 for XP, there were some hardware fixes in SP1 but it was mostly all just beefing up the security.

As to the question of is the RC worth it? If you only have one system, and said system happens to be shared by members of your family then for your health i recommend against it. Now if your like me, and you have Vista on a second hard drive, and only use it as a tool to help people with vista stuff, or just to test out things like DX10 its a fun little guy to play around with.

Cheers

I wouldn't install it,  I read someware that when the official release is out and you want to install it you have to uninstall RC's version.
Seems to me to much opportunity for screw ups.
