Remote desktop acess

Alright, now that I have a new cushy desk job I've been doing a remote acess so that I can get to my music movies etc. Currently I've been using the standard XP remote desktop client. The question is for just file sharing and streaming, and really nothing else is there a better way to do what I'm doing.

I've looked into that some too, mainly for when I was in school and needed to get to my desktop for files and everything else from anywhere in the world.

There really aren't that many options for simple users like you or I....

One of the only other options I did test out was the TightVNC program. Seems to work pretty well once you get the network server set up on your home pc (or the one you want to access most) then you can have the client just residing on a jumpdrive so anytime you need to get to the main PC you just run the client from your jumpdrive.

hope this info helps ;)

Yea I did look at VNCs and VPN clients and came to the decision that it would be too much work for what I wanted to do. So what I have done is hosted an FTP server. I dabbled in this awhile back, but never could get it to run properly, but taking a second look and getting some valuable forum help I was able to get a very nice FTP server (http://www.cerberusftp.com/) setup and with the FTP client running at work it makes life very easy.
