Doesn't it make you want to spit...

Postby Fozzer » Mon Oct 22, 2007 6:05 am

...when you fire up your Favourite Browser (Firefox Mozilla) only to find that Google.com has suddenly decided to ask you download some "stuff" from them, for which you say "NO!", as you do....

....only to find that they have not only removed/deleted all your list of "Favourites", but also installed themselves as your Default Home Page!... >:(...!!

I have had this "trouble" before, and had to search through the inner workings of my Hard Drive to locate the place where my "Favourites" are hopefully stored, and attempt to restore them to my Browser again...

I am now trying to set fire to the "Google" Browser Page, and replace if with my usual "Orange" Browser Page...
...and searching for my missing list of "Favourite" Sites...

My whole Browser has gone to pot!!

...arse... >:(...!

It gets more difficult each time!

There are times when Mr. Google is more trouble than he is worth!

F.... 8-)...!

P.S. ....With Win XP SP1, is there a way to restore back to my previous Mozilla Browser Details...?

The snag with Mozilla, is that it is only possible to "Import" your "Favourites" from "MS Internet Explorer", and not from a location of your choice, ie; C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Favorites.

My only option seems to be; delete all the existing "Favourites" in my Internet Explorer, "Import" my Favs from C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Favorites into Internet Explorer, , then "Import" them back again into Mozilla...!!

...seem an awful  long winded way of achieving the results... :'(...!

F.... :'(....!

In firefox, you can restore your old bookmarks.

Go to
X:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

then click on the folder in it (there is only 1 90% of the time, it's something like this --->7d973lep.default)

Then click on "bookmarkbackups"

Copy "bookmarkbackups" to \Firefox\Profiles\  and rename it to "bookmarks".  This should fix it.

Good luck!  :) Hopefully I haven't misunderstood your problem!
