What should we see in FS11?

I couldn't think of a better place to put this thread...

Anyway, the title says it all.

My recommendation would be having a quite simple aircraft-modelling utility attached - like they do with X-Plane - which would help me, and many others, in starting to do aircraft creating for the FS series.

What do YOU think we should get in FS2008 (as I'll call it for now)?

A Single Player Career with the ability to earn virtual money.

Instead of a missions menu you have a career menu. In the career menu you can select from the following categories:

1. Bush Pilots
2. Airline Pilots
3. Charter Pilots
4. Helicopter Pilots
5. Ferry Pilots

just to name a few.

When you click on a category you will see a list of "job postings" for example.

1. Bush Pilots Job Postings...

Seattle, Washington: Immediate Opening for experienced seaplane pilot needed to fly de Havilland Beavers providing transportation for hunters, fisherman, researchers and their supplies to remote areas around Washington State. Approximately 50 hours per month, pay is $40.00 per flight hour, chance for advancement into the company twin otter after a minimum 6 month commitment. Must have completed the Private/Commercial/Multi/Instrument and seaplane tests in MSFS2008 to qualify CLICK HERE to apply for this job.

Anchorage, Alaska: Denali Charters is looking for experienced tailwheel pilots to transport mountain climbers, doctors, and equipment into and out of high mountainous terrain. Approximately 75 hours per month, starting pay is $30 per flight hour. Must have completed the Private/Commercial/Multi/Instrument tests in MSFS2008 to qualify CLICK HERE to apply for this Job.

2. Airline Pilots

Dallas, Texas: Landmark Airlines is looking for pilots with experience on the 737-400 or Airbus 320. Guarantee pay of 75 hours per month minimum at $80 per hour, Must have completed the Private/Commercial/Multi/Instrument and ATP test in MSFS2008 to qualify CLICK HERE to apply for this job.

4. Helicopter Pilots:

Miami, Florida: AirLifeOne is looking for experienced helicopter pilots to assist the coast guard in search and rescue over land and sea in all weather conditions. typical response is to boating accidents, diving accidents, off short oil rig accidents and other such medical emergencies, pay is $75 per flight hour monthly hours range between 25 and 50 hours on average. CLICK HERE to apply.

assume that under each category there would be about 15 or 20 "job postings" around the world and completing the various "check rides" would qualify you to apply for certain jobs. after you apply for a job, the game would then Generate a series of "missions" that you would then fly as your "job".

sounds fun to me :)

A new graphics engine and sloping runways would be alright for me.

not to contribute to this hijacking, but what problems are you experiencing?

its simply my humble opinion that most "problems" with FSX can be traced to insufficient hardware, I had a whole new rig built not only to cut off potential slow downs in FSX when it was being released but also to head off any problems that might come with the DX10 games we are all waiting for.

of course im just an old fart who grew up playing old black and white FS 2 with hexagonal guages  where you could pretty much only fly around Chicago  ;D so maybe im just used to low end flight sims.

as much as i loved FS2004 - FSX is the new big hit with me. Better graphics, more realistic aircraft flight characteristics, better weather simulation.... MS nailed this one IMHO.

Im not talking about multiplayer Virtual Airlines you play online...

Im talking about single player generated random missions based on the career mode you chose in the single player element of the game.

You choose a career path, the game generates missions that you fly for your job.

This has been done with great success in the multiplayer world, and FS has done a great job of improving the excitement and variability of their "missions" but the problem is in single player "missions" like the rescue chopper missions - you only get ONE.

In the career mode im talking about you would be presented with a whole series of missions to fly in single player mode. one day you might be flying hunters to a remote camp site in wyoming, the next day your flying fishermen to a cabin in washinton state. One day you're rescuing survivors from a capsized yacht, the next day your evacuating an injured man from an oil rig. Or delivering a used airplane to its new owner on the other side of the country. the list is practically without end.

to get hired for certain jobs you would have to earn a number of flight hours and gain certificates on the simulator's check rides. etc

Erm...have you even checked out that link?

It's still singleplayer - with a social component.

E.g. my own airline: http://flynet.en-studios.de/index.php?l ... =db&id=882

checked it out but it said virtual airline - a assumed in the traditional sense.

It looks great, but can you develop bush pilot missions where you go and pick up physical passengers and carry them to a cabin in the mountains? are you able to fly a rescue chopper out to the scene of an oil rig accident, or  sinking boat and pick up survivors? if that is something you can do thats great!!

i would love to see something like that build in to FS11 though  8-)

Seen what's happened in the past, I better :-X Because if I start on one of my files I could get the ban for real.

In short and polite, I prefer, after so many disappointments, to keep my peace and stay away from this race to the next disappoint. After All the people in M$ only do what they want, the bare minimum of what going by market they can get away with, asking people to fork new money for something that new is not.

Why bother.

I wish "they" would surprise me with something worth buying. But I've lost hope.

wow - there seems to be some bitter resentment of FSX and microsoft... i cant seem to understand why though  :-/

you want to see how crappy a game and a game developer can be? run down to the store and buy "Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific" tons of eye candy and NO good game play material at all. plus there are over 250 known bugs with the game.

I've explained my points in the past and I'm not going to repeat them. :-X

But... reading your last sentence... you have no idea of the amount of unwitting irony there's in your statement, don't you? :-/

As for bugs... every piece of software has them. Or do you delude yourself thinking that FS (anynumber) is bug free? ::)

Okay.

There is no such thing as bug free software.

but i'll tell you this sir - i have not been a "regular" to the FSX section of the forums at all until the past week or so. Though i have been roaming around other forum sections here on SimV.

Ill also tell you this - you dont have to repeat your complaints if you dont wish to... like i said i havnt really cruised the FSX section long enough to read anyones complaints with great interest.

I have played AWESOME sims and games, and i have played CRAPPY sims and games over the years... and though the definition of awesome and crappy varies greatly from player to player i think FSX is just fine. Perhaps i have not run across any of the same bugs you have, - quite honestly i havn't run across ANY - at least not with realizing it anyway.

The planes fly beautifully, the missions and challenges are well thought out and designed, a good computer can run it at high graphics settings while delivering 17 to 22 FPS, the navaids work just as well as they did in FS9. personally i have not seen a problem with FSX period... but thats the thing, i havnt SEEN the problems i guess because nobody has pointed out exactly what it is i should be looking for.

Opinions fly around here - and its my opinion that FSX is terrific, anyone and everyone is free to disagree with that all they want. We are all still SimV brethren and aviation fans in my opinion.

Instead of only offering a hand full of aircraft perhaps the developers of FS11 could offer up at least a few popular models from every major manufacturer.

Cessna 150 152172 182 210 310 caravan Citation V Citation X Citation Mustang
Piper Cherokee and warrior, Seminole, Navajo, Apache
Grumman goose, cheetah, traveler, tiger
Beech King air 350, C90 Baron
Boeing 727 737 747 757 767 777 787 and any of the airbus series

just to name a few...

throughout FS history the selection has been a little limited IMHO
