My comp is back to normal and I got it to work....but the method of firing guns and missiles is a bit gay- pressing the space bar etc....can I override that?

yes, a joystick

Yeah, use a joystick, or remap the button to another one, but your still going to have to press a button to do it.

Hold you computer very close and whisper "Fire"

If that doesnt work I would reccomend a Joystick  ;D
