Cropping a picture..

Postby Theis » Sat Apr 22, 2006 8:21 am

Do any of you know where i can get a program, so i can crop my screenshots?
very annoying, when you are trying to show a little thing on a page, and you're forced to show the whole damn size, or resize the whole thing, resulting that you loose alot of quality..

Any help is appreciated.  :)

I use IrfanView for cropping & resizing the images I post here.

To crop the image in Irfanview drag across it with the mouse. Position the lines as required then select Edit/Crop Selection (Ctrl + Y).

Well Theis, you have to open an image in IrfanView before you can crop it. ;)

nay, the only time you can use those options is after you made made the selection of what you want to crop.

so select the cropping area (or if your cropping borders, the opposite) and a bunch of options become available.

Like Jakemaster said try Picasa, I have been using it for about a week and it is some very nice image software.

I too use Ifranview for most chores but for basic photo editing I am starting to like Picasa.

And if you want to get serious about editing go for Gimp, can do everything the $200+ programs can and it too is free!

You can use Paint...

When you push Print Screen, control-v to paste the image in paint. Move the picture up and you will see it get cropped off as you move off the canvas. After cropping the top portion of the screen, click the canvas to deselect the picture. Then drag the little box from the bottom, reducing the canvas size, until you crop off whataver you need on the bottom...

Another way is to just take shots in full screen...

To each his own, but I love GIMP. I have Photoshop, but I get frustrated trying to use it for stuff like that and end up opening good ol' GIMP half the time.

Very intuitive time-saving cropping function, although the preview window is a little small.
