until recently was always able to do an MS update without problems. Now when ever i try the "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB92130) although downloaded fails to install.

And because it fails the install process i can no longer update the xp home operating software with the critical or recommende updates.

Question : has anybody encountered the same problem recently ansd if so what did you guys do to over come it

That is a new one on me! Have you tried the MS help pages? If you have a specific error they normally have a solution

are you using fire fox? it did that to me and i had to use Internet explorer.
