Ok I know im upgrading soon anyway but this is starting to annoy the crap outta me. GTAIII is lagging horrible. I installed other games to see if they lagged, and the anwser is no. I tested FS9 and got about 15fps, in Star Trek Bridge Commander with a addon called nanofx to add alot of stuff (wont go into detail) I averaged 18fps and last but not least in NFSUII I got 14fps avearge so why am i getting 2fps in GTAIII?

System specs and settings would be helpful...

Turn down all game settings and one by one raise them to see if one of them is causing an issue.

Set your sound hardware acceleration to basic or none and see what happens.

start > run > type: DXDIAG > enter. In the sound tab adjust the acceleration level.

Your vid card does not support DX8 and possibly your sound card also. Both are required specs for the game. That could be a problem if the game is not backwards compatible with DX7.

If the video card is not compatible, there's nothing you can do to make it work better short of upgrading.

yea tahts whats confusing me, this makes no logical sense, but tomorrow ill have a 9000 AGP and XP 2000 it looks like so not an issue. Only downside is the board requires SD-Ram its a cheapo ECS for ppl upgrading on a budget back in like 2001
