Lock On modern combat.

Just wondering if the lock on was any good or not. It looks pretty good from the screenshots.

It's great, very steep learning curve and you need a S**t hot pc to run it on.

I would suggest Strike Fighters.  Its cheap, not that steep of a learning curve, and runs great with good looking graphics

If you have a superb, powerful PC, some patience and prefer flight combat simulation to flight simulation then LOMAC is for you. I have it but my PC isn't good enough to run it very well and I'm more of a peaceful flying guy however it is thought of very highly by everyone I know who plays on it

It is an excellent Modern Combat Sim.  If you don't have that great a PC, you could still run it, but without all the fancy graphics settings.  If you want to fly MiG-29s, Su-27s, Su-33s,  Su-25s, A-10s, and F-15s in a 1980s-1990s setting, go with Lock-On.  If you want to fly F-4s, A-4s, F-100s and other Vietnam Era aircraft in a less modern setting, go with Strike Fighters.  Lock-On can be extremely complex if you set all the options to their most realistic settings, however, you can scale it down to make it easier also if you don't want to take the time to do the training missions and learn the systems of all the aircraft.  

If you do get Lock-On though, get the Flaming Cliffs add-on, it really adds the the experience.

I advise you get it.... a load of eyecandy!
Although I warn you, dont try it if you have a lesser computer. My old system couldnt run it, and unless you have a Gefore 6600 and a Gig of Ram or higher dont count on playing full settings, luckily now I can!  :)

I have AMD 2800 2.25 mhz, a 6600 GT clocked up to base 6800 specs, 1 gig of PC3200.  Will Lock On run full tilt on my system?

I doubt full tilt, but it will be enough to fly missions and actually use the game, which is more than alot of people can do.  I don't know of many people who can run it at full tilt and get decent frames in congested areas.

I can run it pretty close, close enough to make it look respectable, but I still get around 17-20 FPS over coastal cities during a congested mission.

How about the newly resurrected competition for LOMAC?  Falcon 4.0 Allied Force.  I hear it runs well on average PC's and the cockpit modeling and systems simulation is near good enough to train genuine F-16 pilots.

It's great in regard to how realistic the avionics and systems are, but it still looks pretty bad.  I've got both, and I really like LOMAC alot better just becuase if you've got 7 different flyable aircraft, and a change of scenery is good every now and then.
