Mixed up internet settings!

Postby GreG » Sat Dec 03, 2005 5:07 pm

Hi guys,

Have a really crap problem!  I cannot download anything from here at simviation or at avsim!  As soon as I click on download it loads up then it says page cannot be displayed!  I've tried in Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer!  I am really confused.  I haven't done anything for my settings to change!  It just suddenly stopped working.  I simply have no idea what is happening.  It's like it finds the download link then acts as if it's not there!  I've removed my download managers cause I thought maybe they were conflicting but nothing is different.  I would accept anything from anyone I'm just out of options.  Thanks.

Greg

Have you reached any bandwidth limits for your ISP?

Is your firewall preventing anything ?

And looking at where you live.... could it be interference from outside agencys?

No I haven't...  Checked with ISP other day.  There's nothing wrong with my account.  I can't just understand why it's timing out.  Is there anyway I can look at my settings to see why it's happening?  In Firefox it says operation timed out, in IE it says page cannot be displayed and in Opera it just refuses to do anything!

It could just be the fact that your ISP has an abnormally large number of users per node. This just slows everything down to a snails pace and downloads become none existant as they take too much bandwidth.

Ya thanks I know but I used another PC which I set up my Account details on and it worked with both internet sites.  So there's a problem on my computer somewhere, a bug in the software.

Check your internet settings that downloading is enabled (allowed).

control panel > internet options > security > custom level > scroll down to Downloads, then... Set "automatic prompting for file downloads" = disable. "File download" = enable.

Or reset the custom security level to medium.

Else, check for spyware. They can often reset or even block your web settings without warning.
