Unzipping

In the past when downloading a file (texture etc), i always a window asking whether i wanted to open the file straight away or save it.  I always opted to save it to a folder specifically for that purpose.

However, just recently I havent been given this option at all, sometimes the download is just opened (and i can't unzip the files), or else it wont let me download the texture etc at all.  I guess somewhere along the line the window has been disabled, does anyone know how i can get it back?

Thanks

What browser/downloader are you using?  You probably accidentally configured it to always open .zip files.

Well there you've got me,  Its internet explorer, and i think its Microsoft WinZip perhaps?  I have standard windows XP and have never installed any other kind of 'unzipper',

Sorry, I don't use IE.  I still think you accidentally configured it to always open .zip files but I don't know how to change it.

Well if what Webb says is right, then to change it back:

1) Go to my Documents
2) Click tools, Folder Options
3) To to file types then scroll down to .ZIP
4) Click Change... then Open With...
5) Choose C:\Program Files\Winzip\WINZIP32.exe

Click OK and then OK again.

Done ;)

That's not exactly what I meant.

G_EORGE's problem seems to be that all .zip files are opening instead of giving him the option to download them.

I dusted off IE and navigated to a .zip file.  A box opened up asking whether I wanted to open it or download it and whether I always wanted to do either.  I suspect that G-EORGE checked the box that says "Always open".

Try this http://www.infopackets.com/channels/en/ ... part_2.htm
