I'm currently living at home with my parents, and have ordered broadband as my fathers still on dial up Windows 95 !!!

My problem is, I intend to scrap my Dads PC and use my PC (Spec below) setting up an account under XP for my father to use.

My dad being set in his ways, he likes to keep all and I mean all of his old e-mails.

He dose'nt want to lose his old e-mails or his address book from 95's Outlook express.

My question is, what would be the easiest way to transfer his old '95 Outlook express files to my PC which is running XP without losing his contacts & mails etc
I'm assuming I'm going to have troubles as his PC is Windows 95 and I run XP.

Any help appreciated.

You can easily do that with the export/import tools. In Outlook, Go to File > Export and select messages and/or address book. Save it to desktop or another folder then copy to disk or burn to CD.

On new computer, Import the files you exported back into Outlook.

There could potentially be compatiblity problems between the different versions of Outlook, but it should work. If it doesn't, then you can always send all the messages to another web-based email account (Gmail has 2.5GB storage -- pm me if you need a free gmail invite), then you can store them there or forward them all back to outlook.

Sounds promising Weatherman, alas, I don't have a CD burner in the Win 95 machine, I do however, have a screwdriver and a writer in my PC, I'll give it a go and report back (probably tuesday) with regard to my progress.

Thanks for the reply, if anybody else has any further suggestions, I'm willing to give 'em a try!  :)

If the outlook versions are the same (6.x) you can simply copy all the stuff over to the new machine

XP hides it in the user folder, and Win95 has the stuff spread all over the system
