Win-xp allows you to zip up files anyway, just create a new zip file and copy the files in there like you would copying to any other folder.

try WinZip 7.0 here.
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winzipIt's a trial version with no time limit. I've been using my registered version for years although I could update to the latest WinZip 9.0 free of charge. I configure all the Fox Four files with it.

Don't use winzip. Its a goddam awful program with limited file support (only .zip) and you must pay for it. The freeware versian have a popup advertisement at startup.
I use winrar, its free and supports a lot of archive formats (.zip, .rar, .iso, .ace, etc.).

I've been using WinZip since it was PKZip for DOS and old habits die hard. I have both WinZip and WinRar and I find myself using WinRar more and more.
Since I have 2 zip utilities I haven't felt a need to get another one but I have heard good things about 7-zip.
http://www.7-zip.org/ As far as XP's built in zipping capability, that was one of the first things I got rid of.

It's all a matter of preference. I've tried most of the alternatives & always return to WinZip. Mine is the registered version but WinZip 7.0 from my link is a free trial with no time limit & the pop-up ad is a small annoyance. I've used it regularly for many years without a single problem. I only use it for zipfiles (it will also open CAB files) so don't need any other features.

WinAce and ZipCentral are the best!
