Very Basic PSP7 Question

OK, I have been trying to do something very simple with PSP7 (unfortunately I'm not very good with these programs) but I figured it out once before and it wasn't hard.  What I want to do is take an image and make it very transparent.  The idea is to then overlay the transparent image onto another image so it has a "ghost like" effect.  But, I can't get it to make the image transparent.  

Does that make any sense?  

Like I said, I did this a long time ago and it was very easy.  Here is the photo I did a while back, I made a desktop for my friend with a picture of his car and a Confederate Flag overlayed, I want to do something simular and I can't get it to work.  



Can anyone help me?

Bring the layer window up,
Double click the layer, in the layer window,
And change the transparency from there

I haven't used v7 in ages, so I'm doing this based on v8 and v9...

Set up a new layer.  Set the layer type as "multiply" and reduce the transparency accordingly.

It depends..
I can use PSP better than alot of people ive seen in companies making graphics.. its all down to experience, and how well you know your program inside and out..

So even though CS2 is the better program, many people wont know every trick in the book, same with PSP......

Imo, PSP is more userfriendly and allows you to dig deaper.. and make graphics that if you had the same experience in CS or CS2, i wouldnt be able to do..

Agreed....Photoshop is supposedly "the best", but in all the times I've used it, I haven't liked it at all.

I am also in the PSP over photoshop group. so much easier to use.

You might as well add another - PSP is also much cheaper than Photoshop; I however have Photoshop CS which I use for my painting and PSP8 with which I design graphics and such.

I had a look at the evaulation for PSP.

Its seems like PSP is diet version of Photoshop. PSP seems more oriented toward professional consumers (or prosumers) rather than industrial professionals to which photoshop is oriented.
