I have Operation Flashpoint, does anybody here play it?  I was also considering buying Joint Operations, how is that game?  I heard that you have to pay to play it online, is this true?  Should I get it or what?  I love OFP but I can never find anybody playing anymore.

Singleplayer only.

Awesome! Way better than BF2! Especially with 150 players in a match.

I heard that you have to pay to play it online, is this true?

Nope. You just have to create a personal account at Novalogic.

Should I get it or what?

If you don't want heavy armor in a multiplayer game, got for it. The only armored units are the british Stryker and the russian BTR-70. Aerial units consist of helicopters, namely the AH-6, UH-60, Ch-47, Super Puma, Bo-105 and Mi-26. Futher vehicles include boats, jeeps (e.g. Land Rover) and trucks.
Weaponary is standard. Scenario is Indonesia; UN forces vs. indonesian rebels.

I love OFP but I can never find anybody playing anymore.

A good game, but it's ageing.

Haha, come on Heretic, I am a tanker, of course I want that!  Does the expansion pack add armor?  Its not a deal breaker for me though, I am going to pick up both the original and the expansion this week I think.  They are $20 each so thats not too bad.  How often do you play?  Are there still a lot of people who play it or are they all going to go over to BF2?

Yup. M1A1 and stuff...

How often do you play?

Once in a while, but without expansion.

Are there still a lot of people who play it or are they all going to go over to BF2?

Not at all. A hard core will always remain.

Nope, but if you know the "feeling" of BF42, you'll know the feeling of BF2. And BF42 has a worse "feeling" to it than JO.

bf1942 is VERY unrealistic. It is designed without realism in mind. It gameplay is straight forward (i.e. spray and pray).

Operation Flashpoint and JO were designed with realism in mind. Their gameplay is designed to mimic actual battlefield conditions.

Hey Beans,
do you have OFP resistance also?
I played that game until become ill with sleep deprivation.
I used to play the ladder games and become quite a good player.

I would have to say, go with BF2...

...weapon functions are more realistic in J-Ops, but overall game play is mroe realistic in BF2, its more of a squad based warfare.

Tell you the truth, I can fly the Joint Ops aircrafts perfect with my toes!...the BF2 ones acutally have flight dynamics (not alot of it, but there is some present...)

I junked J-Ops when Counter-Strike: Source came out... ;)

Oh man do I have to disagree with this one.  Unless you are sitting infront of your computer for 48 hours straight in 135 degree heat without the ability to go to the bathroom in anything except a gatorade bottle while your neighbors are trying their hardest to kill you!  Now that would be a little close to actual combat. ;D  And yes I have peed in a bottle in the middle of combat.  Too bad the enemy didn't know what I was doing while I was killing them! ;)
