Powerpoint Help

OK, I'm working on a powerpoint slide show for a family event (a slide show of pictures for my grandma) and I am trying to program it so it will switch the slides on a consistant time interval.  For example, when I hit start the slide show-I want the first slide to be visible for 5 seconds and then it switch to the next slide (which again will be visible for 5 seconds).  Is it possible to set up a powerpoint slide show so it will be totally automated once you start it and so it switches slides on a time interval.  This is a very simple slide show, there are no animations at all.  All there is is one photo per slide.  So, I just need it to automatically change a slide every 5 seconds.  I'm sure thats possible, but I have no idea how to do it (other than manually changing the slide with the mouse every 5 seconds and I can't do that).

Eek, I haven't used PPT in ages, but I know there's a setting in (I think) the slideshow settings to do just that.

Does it HAVE to be in PPT?  Irfanview also has a slideshow setting that's VERY easy to use, just a suggestion....good luck!

In PP and Irfanview there is the Slide Show option and on both you can set many variables, including length of time to display each slide. And, I too haven't used PP in a long time or the option in IV, but they are easily spotted and pretty much guide you through the process.

Good luck.

ok it depends on what version of powerpoint you are running to some extent.

The following is a very basic run-down of how to do it generally speaking, I'm running office 2003 here I can also get 97 running on another pc, or office xp too..;)

pull up the slideshow in edit mode, not viewing mode.

from there go to the view menu and get the slide sorter running, by clicking on slide sorter.

from there select all slides

then look for slide transition, should be under the slideshow menu.

from there you should be able to tell it to go automatically from whatever times you put in the box...

now what you want to do is apply this to all slides. then they will advance every five seconds. Also be sure to uncheck the advance slides automatically....

umm, if this doesn't work PM me and if I'ms till up I'll see what else I can do..;)

I'm not sure what version of powerpoint you have, but if you have the newest version 2003 you can actually tell it to package the slideshow on a cd, and as one of the options you can tell it to save the powerpoint viewer on there as well. This is nice for people that may not have powerpoint on their pc's.

If you have an older version of the software and would like to have it in this format let me know and I might be able to save it in the right format as a zip file to send to you then you can throw it back on a cd....

Also if you can't figure out how to do it there in time, feel free to send the file to me, and I'll pop the transition times in and return the file within a few minutes provided I'm home when the e-mail comes through...

just some more thoughts on the subject..;)
