What's on offer?

Can anyone give me a list of the other Flight sims?

I keep hearing Combat Fs and X-Plane and Plane Gear???

I have seen the quality of some of these other sims here and would like to buy one to run along side my FS2004.

Can anyone give me a list and tell me, in their opinion, which is the better??

Many thanks,

John

It's all your personal preference. I like the latest X-plane a lot. Theres a whole bunch of others. Just Google it.

Plus I don't think this should go in this forum!

I'm a tad biased but you could do a lot worse than CFS2. It uses the same basic platform as FS2004 & many of the later CFS2 aircraft are compatible with it. This is not always the case in reverse. There's plenty of 3rd party CFS2 addons & you should have no problems installing them. It really depends what you want. I'm sure all the others have their good & bad points.

might be worth taking a look into Strike Fighters/Wings over Vietnam (more or less the same game), a mod comunity almost as big as FS, and lots of things that go BOOM!!!!

I was impressed by some of the combat sim pics on here.

I have heard of one or two of the games mentioned above but would like to know if any are free, what is the best for all round "Flyability", smooth graphics and gameplay.

I tried FS Plane Gear but didn't like the quality, I have a trial version of X-plane but couldn't get my plane to do anything and the views were very unfriendly.

I suppose, the more I think about it the more CFS is appealing to me.

Any suggestions will be appreciated :-)

Thanks

P.S.  Of course I shall still keep Fs9,  I just want to add to the experience not start a new one:-)

I would make my next step X-plane if you want to stay with a civilian sim, IL-2 if you want a combat sim.  X-plane has almost as much history as FS, and a very devoted following.

BTW, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Orbiter...

Probably because a lot who like Orbiter also like FS's in general but not as much the reverse. Lot of people have this ridiculous idea that flight stops at FL900.  ;D
