Is anyone here playing AA? I just got it 2 days ago, it is free at www.americasarmy.com, a 762mb download.

I have completed all of the training but only have 12 honor so I can't do be SF. My user ID is DocBlore.

If you look at it as a game, it seems to be quite good, but the overall package can just be marked "propaganda".

I'll stick to Joint Ops.

I heard something about AA earlier in the week, but I didn't really listen to the full story, so I didn't even know the name of it.  lol  Looks cool, I'll have to check it out.

I dont belive its a recruiting tool, its fun and challenging but yes im shure ppl have enlisted because of it but no honestly its a sad day when a game is propaganda because the Army made it.... :-/ Even if it is propaganda well you know it so you can have fun without beein sucked in!

Of course AA is propaganda. Why on earth do you think it's free? It's nothing more than a recruiting tool for the army.

I heard you had to fill out some kind of application in order to play it online with freinds. I think that is a catch! besides I have it and haven't even started messing with it because my fingers are waiting for Swat4 and Splinter Cell 3 Chaos Theory!

I am having way too much fun with the Swat 4 demo!

If there is a application that you have to fill out it will only be used to send mail to you, nothing more than what you end up getting when you sign up for the Selective Service before graduating High School.
If your approching the age of 18 the military already has the info needed to contact you and try and recruit you they obtain that info from the school your in, and filing out the "draft" card that is required by law. So if you don't even bother with the mail sent to you now just throw it away when you get it.
Giving of this game may be a recruiting tool or as some others call it "propaganda", but no more so than the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds

Well said, PI.  Sure, it's a recruiting tool.  The Army has made no statement to the contrary.  But that's the great thing about a volunteer military.  You don't HAVE to enlist.   Who really cares what it is?  They call you, you say no, end of story.

Ah too old for a draft but at the new age limit to join the Reserves

I'm going on 37 and if I was in better shape I would consider signing up for the Reserves.

Inless in times of war you're drafted...

UNless there IS no draft, in which case it's a moot point.

In the case of a Draft you wouldn't be called up because of the free use of a video game.
In the US you are required by law to sign up for selective service by the age of 18 anyway so why not play the game?
Point is either way the Military will get your information and try to recruit you, happens every year just ask anyone that will be graduating this Spring.

As for the Draft no need to worry there are far to many young people proud of thier Country that voluntarily sign up for service to protect those of us who can't sign up ourselves, despite what the Media wants you to belive.

We Germans do have a choice,too. Either nine months of military service or civil service. But 90 per cent of the guys in my age class (18 to 19) go for civil service. I'm going for the military service myself, but not to defend my oh-so-great country.

Britain had compulsory conscription during two separate periods in the last century. It was first introduced in January 1916 when volunteers for the services were running short. Conscription was ended in 1919 but reintroduced at the start of WWII & renamed National Service in September 1939. This orignally covered men aged 20 - 21 but the age limit was extended & women were included in 1941. I think women could opt to join their respective military service or become Land Girls helping on farms or work in various vital industries. It was continued well after the end of WWII & (unless medically unfit) all young men of 18 were required to do 2 years in one of the military services. This was abolished in October 1959 when I suddenly realised I no longer had to join up, something I had taken for granted for as long as I could remember. From a very early age I'd known exactly what I wanted to do, volunteer for the RAF (aircrew if possible) & make a career of it. This undoubtedly changed my whole life & I made my career in civil aviation instead.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if they reintroduced National Service. I have the feeling it wouldn't work now. The situation has changed a great deal in the last 40 years & I can just imagine the objections & excuses not to go.
