Typhoon Rising

Postby ATI_7500 » Sun Jan 23, 2005 5:39 pm

This,Sgt. Omag, is the idea I've thought about in your thread.
You had only training, I have real action! Har!

Alright, fired up Joint Operations:Typhoon Rising and joined a battle. The objective: Capture as many bases as you can. The difficulty: Enemies! Plenty of 'em ('only' 30 - there are sessions where both teams have 75 players)!

Soo...spawned in the front line bunker (indonesian rebel) and looked for a ride. The guy here piloting the Bo-105 picked me up for a ride into the LZ.
Image

Hey,wrong direction,pal! The blue base,the blue base!!
Image

Alright, inserted near the opponent base, proving the superiority of the AK-47 (the green stuff in the outer right half of the shot is grass - FYI).
Image

Didn't go too well, got spotted and, well...sorry Sarge!
Next try: A boat - with a grenade launcher. Harrrrr!
Image

Didn't work, too. Someone decided to pull the old pirate trick - enter the boad and stab the crew. :P
Okay, base defense. Less dangerous, but still exciting, especially with an enemy AH-6 coming in. At least there was an empty .50cal machine gun around.
Image

Got killed - again. I'm sick of it! I need real hardware! Heyheyhooo! A some lonely BTRs! Rock and roll! ;D
Image

Those things are rolling and swimming fortresses equipped with 30mm cannons. Incredibly effective - as long as there's no LAW around.
Image

In spite of the heat of the battle there's still room for some tranquility and beauty...
Image

The result of half an hour of action? A draw. Both parties had nothing better to do than besieging the opponent's base. Offensive actions? Nearly none.

But I've had a lot of fun nevertheless. ;D

Well ATI, seeing you perform after all my training brings a tear to my eye. You make an old sergeant's hearth go weak boy!  :)

But, seeing you death-count I gather you could use a little more practice...

Don't fear, I'll always be here to train you so hard you'll call me your mommy...  ;D

Sad thing I don't own that game. Is it better or worse than Battlefield?

One forum? Don't think one forum can contain Ati's and Sergeant Omag's egotripping heads when they get started...  ;D  ;D  ;D

Joint ops is a fun game.especially when you get in a server that has a ton of players in it.My favorite thing to do is take the little bird with a passanger gunning and fly as low and fast as possible.

I played it quite alot when it first came out with some of my Day of Defeat clan guys. But Day of Defeat just keeps pulling me back (even after almost 5 years now).So I dont play JO anymore.

Another thing that is fun is to take the little boats and run them across land on some maps you can go almost the entire island in a boat as long as you dont hit any really big hills.Though the engine keeps you from being "stealthy" if you put it on low speed and dont look directly at the enemy you might be able to confuse them long enough to kill em. ;D

Actually, I just trained with you one single time. But since I don't want to disappoint you,I just say: Sir,yes, sir!!

But, seeing you death-count I gather you could use a little more practice...

Hey,my final kill-death ratio was 10-6!

Sad thing I don't own that game. Is it better or worse than Battlefield?

Are you kidding? It's Battlefield by ten! Not sure if it will be better than Battlefield 2 'though.

If this would happen to me,my reaction would depend on my mood. If I had a good day, I'd just say "lol", if I had a bad day, I'd insult you the way it even would make a farmer from the mid-west a choir boy. ;)

LOL I never got insulted for using the boat on land, but I have had 2 passangers in with me but we were all too busy laughing and got killed.

We hurried back to the boat and slowly made our way back to the objective.Same result.

Well, Hidden and Dangerous 2 recommends a 2ghz pc and my system runs it fine. The main reason for me not getting it would be my 56k modem. ;D

Not Joint Ops. I've already seen my machine going down to its knees in a mass-firefight.

-edit: To whoever moved this thread: I now request a "screenshots from other games/sims" forum for all the IL-2, SF and X-Plane screenies.

Well, a good reason not to buy a game I didn't want to buy anyway. ;D ;)
