I didnt know where else to post this... Does anyone know if this is legitimate? My instinct tells me 'NO', but ad-aware dosnt get rid of it, so I was thinking maybe it isnt a pop-up, or an ad.

Also, it only comes up when I am online, nomatter what site I am on.

Don't worry about it. Just close it. Its not legit.
Its just advertising using the absolutely stupid windows messenger service (btw, don't get this confused with windows messenger which is a chat application)
You can turn off messenger to prevent this kind of advertising from happening on your computer by:
(Assuming you have XP Pro, should work with home though)
start, administrative tools, component services,
then click services
and look on the list for a service named "messenger" (minus the quotes) and double click it.
Then change its startup type to disabled.

Nonononononono!!! Try some other hunter/killer program, 'cuz that is bogus! Beware! Achtung! Cuidado! Never seen one like that; it wants you to put it in your registry youself! LOL!! At the very least you'd see some mention of Microsoft (I assume it's a MS OS?), although sometimes those are bogus, too. I can't say if it's OK to leave it alone as long as you don't type that line into the registry or go to that site, so I'd try to get rid of it. I use Mozilla's Firefox browser; it doesn't allow pop-ups. Then I use Spybot to catch the occasional dose of DSO Exploit or whatever before it can gum up my browser.

Yes- autopilot's right; I'd forgotten about that. If it's through the messenger service, that will work. I disabled mine long ago just because it didn't look like something I'd need.

Question, autopilot: is this Microsoft advertising, or...?

No, MS would never do that, not because of their ethics, but rather because they have better ways of advertising.
Its just somebody who knows how to use net send and other ms-dos commands.
