Ifranview question

Postby bozotheclown338 » Sun May 30, 2004 12:55 pm

I just got IrfanView, and was wondering if it could take screenshots in other games such as Battlefield 1942, because I tried taking a screenshot on it with Grab Clip Save (GCS) and it would mess everything up. >:(

It depends if the other games support the standard Windows Clipboard function for taking shots. The M$ sims seem unusual (outdated) in this respect. Most games have their own screenshot feature. I have no knowledge of GCS myself. I've heard it's a tad buggy with some screen resolutions. I always found MultiGrab ideal for taking multiple grabs as it works with most applications. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/mgrab.htm
You can crop/resize the saved images with IrfanView later if you wish.

GCS (GrabClipSave) is just one of the many similar mulltiple screengrab utilities. They all work in much the same way by automatically saving screenshots from the Windows Clipboard in either BMP or JPEG format to a directory on your HDD. This means you can take as many shots as you like without minimisng programs like FS to save them individually. I believe CGS is posted somewhere in the SimV Utilities section. I've never tried it as MultiGrab does everything I want. I often forget to run it before starting FS & the old-fashioned single-shot method suits me well enough.

PS. I think you can configure IrfanView to do the same thing. I've never tried that either.
