Adaware problems

Postby Gunny04 » Thu Dec 30, 2004 12:31 am

I start a scan with adaware and somewhere after 1000 files scanned I get a window that says Windows will restart in 1 minute......... and it counts down, similar to the worm that hit windows XP users a year or more ago. Any help would be helpful I need adaware! just restored windows XP if that helps, Cheers, Gunny

Try downloading Stinger (google for it) and run it, making sure you disable "system restore" first.
This will scan for viruses and will catch many that even the most up to date virus scanner won't catch.
After a complete virus scan run Highjackthis, it will list anything that might be considered spyware, be certain to know what you are removing!! So stuff it will show as spyware your system needs, it is very powerfull ;)

Since Stinger is a stand alone utility you must re-download the current version as it doesn't have a update feature ;)
So you might want to run it now and then check back in a week to see if it has been updated.

Glad to hear!! Stinger is pretty good isn't it?
Finds the stuff that regular anti-virus and adware programs don't ;)
