Dam PC DVD......MOH

Postby Gixer » Tue Dec 28, 2004 4:36 pm

Well I got a nice new game for xmas. MOH Pacific Assault.  Tried to install it and it wouldn't  ???

Tried it on second PC and it wouldn't  ???

Looking at the box notice its 4gigs to install but only one disk  ???

I then notice it say PC DVD-rom  :'(

DOH DOH DOH! Who doesn't have a DVD-rom, I don't!!  Still got me to pull my finger out and I have ordered a nice new DVD re-writer so will be able to backup far more stuff on one disk now  ;D

I notice Half Life 2 is also on DVD-rom as I was looking at getting this too.  I guess this is the way the bigger games are gonna go now.

Don't get half life 2 through a dvd or else you'll have to use it everytime you play.

BUy it through steam and you also get a better deal and have no-cd built right into the game.

http://www.steampowered.com

And no, to answer any potential questions, you don't have to be connected to the internet to play. It has an offline mode. However, you do need to download it though.

I bought silver and its worth it. Over 7 games plus half life 2 and also Day of Defeat source (which is much better than MOH) for the price of a retail standard edition in Best Buy.

BTW, for the MOHPC, I bought that game and wanted to smash it. The engine is the most unoptimized engine ever. There are clipping issues everywhere and the lag is too much.  I'm a fan of the orginal MOHAA, but MOHPC just sucks.

I was going to get MOHPC until i read the reviews :o

Also heard besides the lag even on powerfull machines that the AI spawn in the most odd places such as two feet in front of you :o
From a majority of what I read this game will kill the MOH series. Once again a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Oh well, I got it now  ;D

I will see how well I can get it running!  I will probably end up playing more multiplayer than single player though, I always do.

Yep thats correct, the AI spawn very ackward. I've had instances were they spawn right behind me and bayonetted me. I kept wondering what it was until i turned around after a quickload. And it lags in some places on my machine although after I switched to an nvidia 6800 ultra, I got slightly better performence than on my x800 xt. But this game should not drop in to 20- FPS's even in the lower settings.

Game seems alright.  Quite hard on graphics though! Only thing that is hard is that I struggle to see the dam enemy in the woods.

Next to try multiplayer.
