Really Important Powerpoint Question

OK guys, I have a bit of a weird M$ Powerpoint question.  What I need to do is take a powerpoint slideshow that my sister made and make it into a playable DVD.  I have a DVD burner from HP (a new one) but it hasn't been installed yet and I don't know what program has been bundled with it.  Is there any easy way to do this-its kind of important and I really hope that I don't have to buy anything else.  But, I have never really done this before.

See, what the whole thing is is it is supposed to be some kind of family photo album for my grandma (documenting her life) for Christmas.  My mother and sister (with no computer knowledge what so ever) thought they could just make a slideshow (since my sister likes Powerpoint) and then burn it onto a DVD and play it-but I feel its going to be more complicated than that since Powerpoint has its own format (which I doubt a DVD player can handle).  Anyway, I'm affraid that this may turn out to be a big dissapointment since I have no idea how to make a playable DVD out of this.  I'm sure its possible, but I have no idea how.  If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it (I hope that made sense).   :)

Thanks!

PowerPoint format is not compatible with DVD's. You put it on as a data file, but no DVD player will recognize it, you need a computer with PowerPoint installed. IF you want to do a powerpoint type presentation with a dvd, you can use dvd-authoring software and make a still

Thats a great idea for a pressie! I like it.... The best i can suggest is to put it on a CD-R and give it to her... but presumably she has no PC?

*And no, I'm not scratching because I have fleas..;-))

I'm not sure what to tell you, that's a sticky situation you've gotten into now!  :P I'll keep thinking about it and see what I can come up with...

A little costly but it will get the job done according to their site...
http://www.dvdpresentations.com/powerpoint.html

Not sure if this will work or not, as it creates a VCD, if the DVD player is new enough though it should work...
http://www.powerpoint-to-dvd.com/

just another one..
http://www.dvdenergy.com/

I'm sure if you searched long enough you could find freeware versoin out there that would do the same thing as those above...not knowing for sure if the DVD player will actually work with a VCD, and what types of DVD formats are accepted on the player I can't really help much else...

Hope you get this sorted out in time! ;-)

Sounds like a James Bond, or Get Smart type of assignment..

"You're mission, id you choose to accept it, it to successfully play powerpoint files in a format unknown to man..."

;D ;D ;D
