Call of Duty:United offensive

Postby Tom-boy » Tue Sep 14, 2004 2:03 am

The demo is out on Wednesday 15th and the game itself should hit the shelves also this week. Looking very forward to it! I think it's not gonna be a match to Brothers in Arms but certainly (at least judging by the demo) it's gonna beat MoH:Pacific Assault to pulp. Even though it's just another rail shooter, it definitely delivers in atmosphere where it falls short due to heavy scripting. Cross your fingers, people: let's hope it's good ;)

Played a demo on the Games Convention. Nice atmoshere, but much too linear.

Aye, CoD is linear but that's not really news anymore. It's one of the (hopefully) last straight rail shooters there's gonna be, tendency nowdays being for more open gameplay. Thank God for that. Still, if you're ready turn a blind eye on the heavily scripted gameplay, I'm pretty sure CoD:UO is gonna be worth it's pricetag.

I don't like those ridiculous level borders, like bushes or other stuff, hence I don't like MoH & CoD.
I'm for bigger levels, like in Operation Flashpoint which allow tactical tricks.

Blimey, just played the demo and it was sweeet ;D Lives up to the original game  and then some! I dunno how many times I got whacked to death by flanking Germans when using the .30 cal, and this on Greenhorn-difficulty :o Try it out people, you'll like it.

The thing that disturbs me most in CoD is the fact that you can't play as a Wehrmacht soldier in single player. :P

Me too, it gives the impression that they didn't win a single battle they fought, which is far from true.  They had had quite a few victories in battle, but they tried taking on more than they could handle.  Then started loosing battles.

There's a freeware add-on in the works for the German side.

Nothing beats JO. It has the best team playing you can get on public servers.
