are there any sites out there where I could get a good free utility to record off the screen. I used to use camstudio but macromedia made that payware! now I can't find any good replacement.

Google a program called "Fraps".

I've been using it for ages and I've never encountered a problem with meeting the restrictions.  Truth be told I never knew there even were any 'til now.  

  ...huh...   Well, truth be told  I haven't used the video part of it, just the benchmarking part. And to say the least, I was a bit suprised how fast my computer ran games. (Not well)  :-[

I think that's always a wake up call, and you're never truly satisfied.  lol
