Counter-attack

Well some ninny has been attacking my system again! My firewall keeps stopping them, but its really slowing my system down ('cos of all the attack alert messages), so I was wondering is there a program (freeware of course!) that I can have onboard to send counter-attacks back at the attackers machine and bring their PC to a grinding halt, just I'm getting v.fed-up with these cyber-vandals ::)

Cheers
Ozzy

Ozzy,

Honestly, the best thing to do is leave them. Your firewall seems to be doing an excellent job at keeping them out, and probably stopping them from doing a lot of damage.

If you were to send a counter attack you would reveal a lot of information about your computer which would obviously make it much easier for them to get in.

Firewalls such as ZoneAlarm were designed to keep your computer completely stealthed, to offer no counter attack and to reveal to information at all. Their aim is to make it seem as though your computer doesn't even exist.

So that's the best thing to do Oz, just leave 'em alone ;)

The only thing i can suggest with regards to the system resource hogging being caused is to route the internet through another computer and run the firewall on that computer, if it is at all possible for you to do that.
