Not that I,m into combat sims but I borrowed Lock On for a few days as I like to fly some of these a/c.
Good God I am glad I did not buy it, what rubbish. It is Flanker 2.55 a minimal improvement that took what 4 years to achieve ?
If you want to complain about FS2004 I suggest you hire this piece of rubbish then thank your lucky stars for FS2004.

Right on, the demo was enough to convince me, the same with Jane's USAF. I miss Falcon 4 !

Same here. I kept going back to the publisher's site because of the cool pictures and promises of great performance. I was thrilled the day I saw the demo available.
A lot of people couldn't even get the demo to install. Just look at the publisher's forum. And the publisher wasn't even answering their questions. I got it to install and it promptly crashed every time I tried to run it.
This project has been delayed for about a year and they couldn't even put out a finished product. Is the final version out? Who cares?!

Thank you all. I thought I was going mad. I purchased Lock On (more fool me) and it is absolutely rubbish. The eye candy is nice but there is no game !!! When you look at the dynamic campaigns in Falcon 4.0 and others, Lock On is laughable and yet all I read in the UK PC gaming press is adulation and scores in the high 70 - 80% bracket.
Technically the game has clearly not been play tested properly before release as it crashes with alarming regularity. The menu interface reminds me of a poor console conversion and it doesn't support MS Sidewinder joysticks !!!
Back to Falcon 4.0 then for me.

I recently got LO-MAC and it was a heaping pile of :-X. The sounds didn't work, the graphics were glitchy and the game crashed at the first opertunity it got. So being the stubborn wannabe A-10 pilot i went onto UBISOFTs website and downloaded the 1.01 patch and ran it and hey-presto, most of the problems were fixed. The game is pretty good once you got the patch, the way your wingmates fly information and copy every manoeuvre you do is beautiful. So if you're willing to download the (close to 24mb, which is a nightmare on a 56k) patch, then this game is really rewarding, although to be honest i have trashed about 15 A-10s trying to lean how to use the targeting systems.
