hi guys, this is what happened. a few weeks ago it started, i'd go online and no sounds wll be played (i.e. meessenger, IE and stuff of that sort) but if i rebooted it would come back to normal. but today, i turned the comp off when i started to do HW, it was all normal. but then when i fired up a few hours later, the sistem sunds would play (windows start and that stuff) but no online sounds, and the little speaker icon on the task bar by the clock is gone!!! the system says there is no problem or conflict with the card but then WTF is going on?!?!?!

Printer port and soundcard usually share the same IRQ (that normally goes well, since DOS and the SB2.0), but onboard soundcard can give weird side effects too.

Does your motherboard have onboard autio?
