Good afternoon all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for anti-virus software that you use? Paid or unpaid.

Thank you!

=)

Yes, easy one, I recommend the anti-virus that comes with Windows 10. It's very good and has little impact on performance <<s

Hi, I have used Avast Antivirus successfully for years.
They have both a FREE Antivirus, and a Paid version.

I recently changed from Avast to the built-in Windows Defender.. Very happy & has a small footprint. Web searches will confirm how good it actually is. I'm also using Malwarebytes.

I'm also using built-in Windows 10 Defender only. Used it in combination with Malwarebytes before, but Malwarebytes occasionally throws up false positives and more recently caused stutters in DCS World, so I removed it. If you don't visit "risky" websites, Windows Defender will be more than sufficient I believe. A friend of mine uses BitDefender free version and says it also has a small footprint and low interference, but I think it is overkill

Do I need antivirus software if I have Windows Defender?
Though Windows 10 comes with built-in antivirus and anti-malware tool (Windows Defender), it might not be able to protect your web browsing activities and malicious links. ... So, it is important to install antivirus software that offers web protection or internet protection.Feb 4, 2020

Hello N752SK, read the above regarding the "web browsing and malicious links". Thats important so you may want to do some additional research before you make your final decision.

No, you cannot have 2 anti-virus programs running at the same time. So, it's either Windows Defender or any other.
When I was using Avast, Defender was unavailable, as soon as I uninstalled Avast, Defender became operable.

I've been using, (and still am), the free version of "AVG", since Pontious was a Pilot many years ago, on all my various Windows Computers...>>>>

Works a treat on all my Windows; XP, 7, 8, 8.1,10 Desktop Computers and Laptops!

Its always kept me safe so far!

...and it's FREE!

...I like "FREE"!.... ...!

As always, just be careful what you click on when you are browsing!
