windows 10 update.

Why is it whenever bloody Microsoft decide to update my Windows 10 operating system it totally messes up my screen resolutions to the point where it takes hours to get my monitor to display properly and then I have to do the same with FSX. I even got to the state where I had to open Windows in Safe Mode (ever tried that? Without help from you tube forget it!) because my monitor refused to display after the initial motherboard messages.
I know, I know that I don't have to install updates but I like to keep my operating system up to date for security reasons.
Anyone else have the same problems?

Rant over.

Two of mine, the big family pc and my living room "media player" pc connected to my HDTV, both received the latest Win10 update recently, and no problems, video or otherwise. Classic Shell, the free Win7-style desktop utility I always run, had to reconfigure the first time it ran after the update, but otherwise, the update installed A-OK.

No problem with my update either. All working perfectly, running with 2x screens as well.

In my case, no problem in a computer but can not be installed in another (new one only for simulator) because hardware compatibility. It seems it is due to an Intel SSD.

After update P3d ver3 had a flashing screen   but after updating graphics drivers on NVidea site all is now back to normal. Not entirely sure what the update did as I answered no to all the questions after set-up finished.

Cheers
Rich

Are you signed in to your Microsoft account to receive updates ? Sometimes I forget and am signed in to my local account.

Anyone having trouble with the latest (Oct 18) Win10 update?

Perhaps this might tempt those who have not upgraded to Win 10 to (never) do it!

The end for Windows 7 starts in January 2020, when mainstream support from Microsoft comes to an end. There are reports that Microsoft will offer extended Win7 support for another 3 years, for $50 a year, but whether that offer is only for big organizations or for consumers too remains to be seen. All things have a life cycle: a beginning, middle, and end, and that includes software. Anyone old enough to remember when "I'll never give up Windows 98!" was the rallying cry? I do.

In this case try reinstalling Monitor drivers, if the drivers are outdated or incompatible with latest Windows update then it tends to cause various issues, so in this case, it follows the steps:
• Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
• Choose Update & security section > and from the left pane highlight Recovery
• Click on the ”Restart Now” button.
• Choose Troubleshoot > open Advanced options.
• Select Startup settings and then Restart.
• Now, press F4 to boot your PC in Safe mode.
• Once the system boots, right-click on the Start menu and open Device Manager.
• Navigate to Monitor.
• Right-click and uninstall the device.
• Restart your PC.

No problems or issues whatsoever with my Windows 10 update, that I manually did as soon as it was released, also running 2x screens.

Just a very strange issue... I'm using Edge as a browser, & when I opened Simviation & Flightsim, it looked like a BBS page, with no graphics, except adverts. All was fine if I opened them up in Firefox. All other sites & forums were perfect..
Today I tried to open those sites in Edge, & all was perfect. Confussed me no end!
