Which version of MFS had this feature?

As I recall one of the older versions of microsoft flight simulator had a feature that would allow you to design your own plane, to an extent. You could choose prop or jet, one to four engines and a variety of wing shapes and power levels. Also, does such an addon exist today, other than a full blown aircraft designer program?

I've had a lot of FS series. My 1st was in the late 80's and don't recall any option to design your own built in. I also used to design aircraft with FSDS and I think I would remember a design feature .. but then again ... my memory isn't what it used to be ... what was the question again? :character-oldtimer:

That is a lot of interesting stuff and I may buy one of them. The app I was referring to though had little to do with trying to make a simulated version of a real aircraft. It was more like something you would use to make an imaginary aircraft and I think it was part of the total package offered with that version of flight simulator.

I'm glad you responded, I was beginning to think I was hallucinating the whole thing.

That was FS-4. Interestingly enough, that was also the last version of what I call the "stick and panel" design of aircraft and of sound being run through the speakers mounted inside the computer...man, those were the good old days. It was also managed by windows 3.1.
