Keeping things updated

I'm one of those folk who turns off auto update because I like to decide about that kind of thing for myself.
I was finding some pages including good old Simviation weren't all loading peoperly unless I cleared my history.
Yesterday I decided to install some 'important updates' for W8 .........
So simple solution and now all the pages seem to load and look OK again.
A lesson for me and maybe someone else
