Anybody remember AOL and Air Warrior?

Way back in the beginning of the internet and dial up ISPs I had AOL and when I discovered Air Warrior I was hooked on online aerial combat sims. Air Warrior was almost like an arcade game and the planes flew like they were on rails but it was fun. Then MS had Fighter Ace packaged with one of the CFS releases and I was hooked again. Fighter Ace was a better flight model and the scenery was better but still spartan.

I think they spent too much time and money trying to make the scenery flashier and all it did was bog down the frame rates. I was with Fighter Ace until the day they pulled the plug. I've tried Warbirds and Aces High but have never formed an attachment like I had to FA and AW.

Have you tried the Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator series?

CFS 1, CFS 2, CFS 3.

The Forum down below.

Still a number of enthusiasts around from the old Dial-up days!.

I occasionally tootle around the countryside in CFS 2 flying my Cessna 150/152...
....(I'm not into shooting and bombing things!).... ;) ...!

I ran into something yesterday, 'World of Warplanes', check out worldofwarplanes.com, I think I got the website name correct. It looks very sophisticated. I haven't looked thru the site much, but it may be of interest, sounds like something along the lines you're talking about here.

I downloaded world of warplanes, it took about 12 hours because it kept locking up my computer. To me WWP is a joke, more like an arcade game. I tried it for several sessions before giving up. When I got my new computer I didn't transfer it to my new hard drive.

Others may like it so I recommend trying it and deciding for yourself.

Fozzer, I thought you read all my posts :D I have already posted elsewhere that I have CFS 1 and 2 loaded on my computer. I love flying the F-8F that I downloaded against the Japanese air force in CFS-2

Not yet. I'm still fascinated with FSX for the moment.

I think Fighter Ace was an offshoot of CFS2. When I recently put CFS 2 on this computer Fighter Ace showed up too. But there is no online service provider now.

I just Googled it, and...

...it looks like there's no chance of using any of the "FS Host Servers" for CFS 1/2/3 for Multiplayer!..... :( ....>>> http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/forum/ ... opic=704.0

Which is a real shame, as "FS Host" is so simple to get up and running for the MS Flight Simulators!

Paul... ...!
