i know that freeserve/wanadoo/orange dont enforce the download limit.  i phoned up one time and asked about the limit and they said that they will only send you an e-mail/letter if you start taking the mickey and downloading tens of gigabytes of data.  i have i 2gb monthly limit and i know for a fact i go over it, but nothing is ever said.

I'm on BT's cheapo package, with a supposed 2GB monthly limit.

Thus far, I have downloaded around 7 GB since September when I signed up with BT.

Not had a peep from them about my excessive useage!

;)

As Paul has said ....... one day you'll just find that you've been cut off ..... no letter, no warning, just a dead line. For a communications company BT.... "they never talk"

...still talking about Monthly download limits....

..does that include "downloading?" streaming audio and video...?

I often leave my computer streaming audio music while I am Hoovering, cooking, or doing the washing, etc...

Is this adding to my download limit...?

Or is it more concerned with downloading complete music/audio files to disk...?

What is the difference between receiving streaming data and downloading data to disk...?

Cheers all...!

Hi Paul. Most companies in the USA don't count streaming as downloads since it's only a data transfer. I would think the UK would be similar. Streaming usually at most only stores files in your temp folder. There are some that can be saved for later use. I would think would be counted as downloads.

cheers

As a Hammond organ player, I often have this music streaming in the background while I am washing my underpants...>>>

...and I was a bit worried in case it was adding to my Monthly download quota....

It was this worry which was causing the initial problems in with my underpants... :-[...!

Sounds nice, Paul!  :D Very relaxing  8)

A way to check your bandwith? How about checking your hard disk space at the beginning of the month and never delete anything?  ;D ;D
