Fireman posted the tip in another spot, and when the Fireman has a tip to a utility I usually give it a try, once again he pulls through with another great find ;)

About the smilies I have noticed in any forum I go to if you don't enter the smiliy first before continuing then it will always be placed at the end, but there is where you find the "code" mentioned above ;), you can see what combinations of letters, punctuation mars ar whatever it is that makes up that smiliy :)

Hi Fret...!

Re: The Smilies.

Inserting them anywhere in the text after it is completed works fine when using Internet Explorer as a browser/text editor, it's using Firefox as a text editor that creates the problem... ::)...!
There is something strange/different about the HTML code in Firefox.
It doesn't seem to be fully compatible with the YaBB HTML code used for the Simviation Forum.
So it's probably a good idea to use Firefox as a general browser, and IE as a very good text editor for the Forums... ;)... ;D...!
...I think this is what Hagar does... ;)...!

Cheers....!

Paul.

Yeah, the smiley thing is annoying. I've been using Firefox so long, I thought that was a peculiarity of YABB!! ;D ;D ;D ;D (inserted before continuing!). Even worse is trying to create italicised sections...>:(
I need to try "Launchy" etc.... my biggest peeve w/firefox right now is that I can't reply to a message in Outlook (all my work email is on an Outlook Exchange server).  Wonder if Launchy will help with that... ???

WOWZERS...!
Ta, Rotty....!
That proves that it's not me that's going mad... ;D...LOL...!
It's only recently that I've been using Mozilla Firefox as a Browser/Text editor.
Previous to that I always used Internet Explorer, (IE), as my Browser/Text editor, and the editor always worked fine with the SimV (YaBB) Forum... 8)... ;D...!
IE allows complete control over editing the page, smilies/text styles/insertions, etc... ;D...!
So....
I have both Firefox and IE browser Icons on my desktop, and it looks as tho' if I want to use a good text editor for the Forums, I select Internet Explorer, and use Mozilla Firefox for general browsing the Internet.... 8)...!
Firefox is excellent for avoiding all those annoying pop-ups, adware, etc... 8)...!

Cheers all...!

No rotty, Firefox will download Launchy.

I am telling you boys, Launchy is what you want. With Firefox browser open and you run into any problem with a site...say HERE for example

That sounds great, but as I said: no download, apparently, occurred. No Launchy icon. Weird.  ???

rottydaddy, if I remember right......you have to add the Launchy shortcut icon to your Firefox toolbar. Look for the "Customize" section in tools or for the toolbar. There you should see the NEW Launchy icon. Just add it to your toolbar.

Been awhile as I have had it for quite awhile now, but I am pretty sure that when I downloaded I thought the same thing.....Where is it!!!?

Launchy sets itself up as a right click option in the menu.

Hi _526...!
Do me a flavour...!
Select reply, type a small page of text.
When completed, with the mouse go back to various places within the text, and after selecting the desired smiley (or text style) from the top of the page, try positioning it at that place in the text.
Whenever I try that it ALWAYS positions the smiley (or text style) at the END of the text... :'(...!

Paul.
...smilies represent my English sense of humour... ;).. ;).. ;).. ;D...!

Ok Fozzer, here's YOUR test you wanted.  ;D. Now that smiley was entered as I was typing.

Next one will be added here..... when I am done with this block of text. If I understand you correctly ( yes I am slow sometimes ) I won't be able to do it........the smiley will just appear here.... ;D

Ok, wasn't able to insert it like you said.

Now this is being typed in the IE page opened up through Launchy...........Firefox browser is still up.
Now am going to insert smiley here.. ;D   and it should work just fine. Text over...now trying to insert smile above.

Worked fine there. So it is a Firefox issue.

Hi 526...!

Thanks for carrying out the test for me...!
So you proved I wasn't going mad... ;)...!
I don't know of a way out of the problem, but I have noticed that the same problem occurs on the LAGO Forum...even using Internet Explorer... :o...!

So....

It's Firefox for general Browsing, and IE for problem-free typing on the SimV Forum... ;)... ;D...!

Cheers all...!

LOL,...............I don't think I proved you weren't going MAD.
Matter of fact,..........GOING is not the word I would use.
GONE is more like it.  ;)

And proving that, ...well....no need, WE ALL know the answer to that.
