Win 7 64 bit

I recently found out that my computer is capable of running the 64 bit version of Windows 7. (I currently run the 32 bit version) My question is, what are the advantages and disadvantages of 64 bit? Will FSX and FS9 run without issues on it? And is there anything else I should know about?

I'd stick with 32 bit oh impatient one! There are issues with compatible drivers and the like with 64 bit. I've had hours of fun this week trying to sort out a laptop which one of the morons at work insisted on having 64 bit installed on it.....

I'm running 64bit 7 on my laptop since i bought it back in december, Had no problems with drivers or anything like that.
I've also stuck an extra 3gb of memory in the laptop aswell so its running better than ever.

32bit OS = 3gig of RAM access
64bit OS = 256gig of RAM access

Thats the main differences.. so its able to go alot faster, and access alot more hard-ware.

Thanks guys! I do know that 64 is faster, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't have any problems with FSX or anything else that is way different. I'm working on backing up my files up right now and when that's done...I will reformat the hard drive and install Windows 7 64 bit.  8-)

I'm running fs2004 on Win7 64 bit and 6 gigs of RAM.  Works GREAT!  NO issues at all.  Fast and stable.  All my payware addons also work fine.

I have some older non flight sim hardware (slide scanner, etc.) that does not have drivers for 64 bit.  That is a problem.... but it is clearly time to upgrade that stuff to the current century  .

My big problem is networking for the simpit.  Win 7 and Win XP networking are not playing nicely with each other.  THAT is a big headache for me.  But it does not apply to the more typical flight sim person.

Can't say about fsx.... have it but it is not installed.

I am now officially running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium! 

The only problem I've run into is that my Ethernet card is incompatible. After doing some googling, I discovered that if I had under 4GB of RAM, the card would work. So I pulled a 2GB card out and I'm running 2GB currently, which kind of defeats the 64 bit point. But it will do for now until I can get a wireless card. Then I can get my 2GB of memory back.
