Re: Possibly Screwed

A similar thing happened to me some time ago...

I switched on my computer and noticed that my Hard Drive light was constantly lit, for ages and ages... :o...!

I looked in my various Folders and they were gradually being emptied, one by one... :o...!

I switched off the Computer quickly...but too late...there was nothing left.. :'(...!

I ended up with a Hard Drive full of empty, yellow Folders!

I think a Virus scan revealed a Virus, Trojan, or some other infection had crept in, via the 'Net.... >:(...!

I think I finished up purchasing another Hard Drive, and re-installing everything again... :'(...!

That was a bad Day!

Paul... :(...!

Check your power unit.

I had a similar problem.  Thought it was the external hard drive and after trying everything I could think of, I gave up and reluctantly had to buy a new one, thinking all the data was lost.

However, still not willing to give it up, I had a brainstorm and connected the old drive to the new power unit from my new drive and hey presto ... everything was there and back to normal.

I managed to find an old power unit from an older piece of kit and my original drive now sits next to my new drive, both running as normal.

I know what you mean about the 'heart attack' ... my external drive was my personal-data-I-can't-afford-to-lose back up as well!

Alex.
