DirectX 10 for XP

Has anyone tried this yet? I'm going to give it a whirl but wondered if anyone had an opinion...

As Phil Taylor posted a long time ago

FSX will not execute through the DX10 API unless it sees the right system files (core files) from Windows Vista

I have no idea how this works but everything I have read and heard about it says that although it may allow limited DX10 support for modeling and other 3D work it will not allow full DX10 support to games

Unless something has seriously changed in it within the last year I do not see it providing anything,.. be sure to back up before messing with it

and even if it does work fully,..  if this is for FSX I would not waste my time.. FSX DX10 IMHO has too many bugs to be worth the use.

Nick I'm still only running FS9 on my rig as FSX just kills my system. I'll let you know how it goes in a little bit ;)

Okay well the first tests prove favourable, in NZ at my secret testing location I'm getting between 5-8 FPS better than usual! More data to follow ;)

wait a minute.. you are telling me you are running FS9 in DX10?

Is you video card a DX10 card?

That hack posted has a lot of people asking why their DX9 no longer works and they cant seem to uninstall it, so Im really sure what you are seeing here

but none the less, you are a lot braver than me installing hacked DX system files from someon in russia...

The only game I have on my system is FS9 at the moment, I'm thinking about putting CFS2 back on as I've been asked to beta-test a new campaign and some aircraft.
So far so good 8-)
