File recovery

I stupidly deleted my backed up file on my iPod when deleting other uneeded files. I have a nice collection of recovery programs, but they all seem to crash when trying to recover from my iPod. They do any others without a hitch. does anyone know of a nice free recovery program that will work on my iPod?
