Can't install .NET

Simple...I just can't install it. It downloads and about 4 bars into installation it says .NET framework 3.5 has encountered a problem and needs to close. What is wrong with it?


Also I need it to make the Worldwide telescope work and for whatever reason when the installation program for .NET is running the Worldwide telescope works. With out it the telescope doesn't initialise. It requires .NET 2 and i have the 2 version but still.

My version downloaded fine with Win XP SP2... ...!

Lots of programs require it in place to be able to run them.

What are you running; Xp or Vista?

I have that version already with my XP Pro SP2 64x. I need the 3.5 version. The program Worldwide telescope is a useless piece of code at the moment sitting on my computer. When I run the installation of .NET the program works but .NET stops installing because it encountered an error. :-?

Now I tried to uninstall and reinstall but even that doesn't work.

I get Error 1324: The path My Documents contains an invalid characters.

I can't even do the simplest things with .NET now. Need help. :-/

New findings...I can't repair or remove the .NET framework via any method.

I know what it is but I need to update it. Or just to reinstall the 2 version as The Worldwide telescope is giving me problems.
