Registry mechanic with vista?

My friend has vista on their pc and lots of crashes, as part of trying to help them fix it (apart from virus, adware scans etc--all the usual) im wondering if Registry mechanic is very useful for use with vista (ie is it as effective as it is for xp or has the registry been changed any)

Im assuming theres very little difference in the registry of xp and vista but im just wanting to check before i jump in
