AVG Free Edition

Postby Bubblehead » Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:25 pm

I downloaded the AVG Free Edition on a trial basis. However, when I click on the control Center, I get this message:

"Could not initialize AVG Anti-virus kernel interface - application cannot run"

What's up on this. I have bee unsuccessful in contacting Grisoft on this. Anyone have any similat experiences.

What is a good and reliable anti-virus, anti-spyware software to buy. Right now I go the Micrsoft Defender and the EZ-Armour.

First of all, AVG is a good & reliable application. Second, the free edition offers no tech support as stated on the website. But you can download a manual from their site and possibly find your answer from there. I suspect your OS or another application is preventing AVG from installing correctly or the download somehow became corrupted. I personally have succesfully installed AVG Free on Windows OS's from 95 up to XP Home and not experienced any install problems.

Been running the AVG 7.5 sopftware on Xp now since it became availabe........... before that the 7.1 version.  Works great.

Make sure that you have downloaded the 7.5 version.... the 7.1 is no longer calid or supported with virus updates.

best,
