Internet problems - Help needed :)

Postby PisTon » Sat Jul 15, 2006 9:36 am

Hey all
I am currently on a network with 3 other computers on it, and none of us can visit webpages, BUT, I can sometimes use msn. Weird?

When speaking to someone on msn, they said it sounds like a DNS issue, although I am not sure.

I have tried:
Restarting Router
Restarting Windows
Restarting network services
Going into the Router cfg (entering my IP into browser_ and nothing there has anything of use.
Clicking repair in network properties
In network properties I only get send or recieved a packet every minute or so.
Checking for viruses

Nothing works!? (to fix it)

So does anyone know what is causing me not to be abled to visit webpages? How do I fix it? Why does msn work? Can a virus do this? ISP issues? Router issues?

Thanks
PisTon

sounds like a firewall issue to me

can't think of anything else that would let you use msn but not your web browser

unfortunately, i've never worked with routers before so i don't know how to fix it but hopefully i've pointed you in the right direction

Not firewall, and not a port issue ;) Thanks anyway.

I take it you're running XP on all the comps. If so then just run the network setup wizard on all the computers again and see if that helps.

What firewall are you running ...... ?
