E-Mail Spam, and Spybot Spam remover...?

Postby Fozzer » Sun May 14, 2006 4:33 am

Hello Lads... ;D...!

With reference to my previous post regarding receiving loads of Spam E-Mail on a daily basis...
I do a regular check for Virus's with both Norton and AVG. which always turns up as being clear...  8)...!
...but...
A daily check with "Spybot" always turns these babies up, and I wonder if any of them are allowing the Spam mail to enter my Mail In Box...?
NOTE: "Adaware" NEVER finds them, and always tells me that my system is "Clear"...!!!
...so...
Which program should I believe, "Spybot", or "Adaware"... :'(...?

I remember Nick? remarking awhile ago that he thought "Spybot" may possibly have been "Hacked" into, and may be giving more problems than it cures... :o...?

...anyway...

This is the "Spybot" report that I get every day...>>>

and after running the "Remove" option, this...>>>

I regularly check for "Trojan Horses", but rarely find them on my system... ;)...!

Any ideas Lads, regarding the above, and the Spam E-Mail that I keep getting every day, some of it being Postmaster-returned mail, Postmaster un-deliverable mail, Mailer Daemon, etc, etc, you know the annoying stuff, like Doctors recommendations, cheap Rolex watches, Penis extensions, etc, etc...!!!
LOL...!
My Windows "Internet Security Options" are set to Maximum..!

Paul... 8)...!

Browser: Mozilla Firefox.

Norton System Works.
AVG.
Adaware.
Spybot.
Windows XP Pro, (OEM), Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 not allowed...don't ask!.. ;)...).
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Spybot wont by lying to you! Sometimes it takes the update programmers a while to catch up with each other (if these are new types of spyware) I cant really remeber about AdAware, but as you can see, Spybot is searching for Malignant cookies, AdAware may be searching for actual spyware progammes, which your system may be free of.  Are you using AVG free?

Sometimes one program will catch stuff another can't

Why run two AV? That has to be killing your system if not casuing other problems ???

I had ran both Spybot and Adaware, but now run none.
I do however use SpywareBlaster, it doesn't scan or remove the stuff but prevents it from being installed in the first place.

I have a copy of Adaware on a external HD for testing SpywareBlaster and i can report after installing SpywareBlaster I have had no issues with spyware at all, hence the reason for not running any extra programs.

That and I use NOD32 antivirus which in itself is a fine spyware killer ;)

Paul ............ you aren't going to get rid of spam..... and those tracking cookies have nothing to do with spam either.

As for the mails that you have highlighted ..... get everyone that has you on their address book to run Antivirus and Adaware. Those "mail returned" etc mails are propogated by other peoples infected systems (they may not even know that they are infected)or people trying to infect your system, just delete.
