Postby candle_86 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 4:49 am

ok when im replying in firefox quite often my cursor reverts to the topic and then i end up typing a sentence or two in the topic before realizing it. Is this a firefox bug or a windows 2000 bug?

It's one of those problems that pops up when you look for solutions to problems that don't exist. I gave up on "alternate" browsers because of the countless, silly issues like that.

I used Mozilla/Firefox a bunch when I was trying to prove to M$ that I didn't need their monopoly, trying to enjoy computing on a LINUX box. As much fun as LINUX was (I'm an old XENIX Sys-Adm), there's just no place for it if in the end-user/gamer world (you'd be surprised what percentage of internet servers run LINUX).

The only good argument I've heard for running alternate browsers is the security stuff. You'll hear that it's either that much more hole-free than IE.. or.. that that are so few users that hackers don't bother (which is ironic, because FF users seem to want to talk others into running it (I'd want it kept a good secret if that were the case))..

I run it because it's prettier.  At least with the Qute theme.

Of course none of this helps Candle's problem.  I find that trying to insert smilies and the like is annoying, as the smilies will pop up at the end of the message no matter where your cursor is, but by now I've memorized all the URL, image, list, smiles codes etc. so it doesn't bother me much.

Actually, in those rare cases when I have to use IE, the solution that works for me is... using IE.  Go figure. ;D ;)
