Burning DVDs to iPod

I was wandering whether there were any freeware programs that let you burn DVDs straight to iPod or to AVI files ( I have a converter for those) There are lots of free trials but no full programs. i want to see my whole DVD not 5 minutes of it.

 Well, I don't know if this will help, I haven't checked into it myself, but the guy at Best Buy gave me this web address for converting video for Ipod's, all he gave me was: Videora ipod convertor.
